A Riddle
An explorer walks 10 miles due south. Then he turns left, and walks 10 miles east, until he sees a bear. He runs away from the bear, going 10 miles due north and ending up where he started.
What colour was the bear?

I do know this but do you want the first one to reveal the correct answer? Guess I could email it to you.

I think I also know this one. I’m guessing white.
And I’m perfectly alright, thanks for asking!

You know, I was really chuffed with myself for working this out without looking at the answers, and then the first three commenters get it right straight away. Well, I’ll just assume that there were countless hoardes of lesser intelligences who read the post before you guys and were too befuddled to attempt an answer.
Yes, it has to be a polar bear, because in order to go ten miles south, east and then north and end up back where he was in the first place, the explorer must have started at the north pole.
Actually, I’m not convinced that you’d get polar bears right up at the pole, but I don’t really care any more. I’ve lost interest.
